As of November 14, 2011 all of the assets of Metron’s Fire Pump Controller Division have been purchased by Hubbell Incorporated, an international manufacturer of quality electrical and electronic products for a broad range of non-residential and residential construction, industrial and utility applications. With 2010 revenues of $2.5 billion, Hubbell Incorporated operates manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the People’s Republic of China, Italy, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Australia. Hubbell also participates in joint ventures in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and maintains sales offices in Singapore, the People’s Republic of China, India, Mexico, South Korea, and the Middle East. The corporate headquarters is located in Shelton, CT. The Metron Fire Pump Controllers will be part of Hubbell Industrial Controls Inc., which is located in Archdale, North Carolina.

The Metron brand name and products will continue to exist in the marketplace and will replace the Hubbell fire pump controller product offering.  The only change to the Metron fire pump controller product line will be where the controllers are manufactured. For the next two months most of the Metron fire pump controllers will continue to be produced in the ES&S Metron factory (formerly known as Metron) in Denver, Colorado.  During December and January production will be shifted in stages to Hubbell Industrial Controls’ factory in Archdale, North Carolina.  Hubbell’s facility in Archdale currently produces DC overhead crane controls, DC contactors, Hubbell fire pump controllers, automatic transfer switches, resistor coils and rotary drum switches.  The Metron fire pump controller line will fit well into the Hubbell facility from a logistical, as well as, a product synergy.

Metron will continue to be the world’s leading manufacturer of UL/FM Listed fire pump controllers but now with resources of Hubbell behind them.  Nearly all of the key personnel involved with fire pumps controllers at Metron (sales, customer service, and service) are now employed by Hubbell.  Metron’s goal is to make the transition from Metron to Metron, a Division of Hubbell Industrial Controls as seamless and transparent to their customers as possible.
